DENVER - Today, Governor Polis, as directed by President Biden, ordered flags to fly at half-staff from sunrise to sunset for 30 days, starting on the day of former President Carter’s passing, December 29, including a National Day of Mourning on January 9th, to honor the life and service of James Earl Carter, the 39th President of the United States.
“Today, as America begins to mourn the death of Former President Jimmy Carter I encourage Coloradans to join in honoring his 100 remarkable years of life, service, and leadership. we must continue to further the ideals that Former President Carter believed in, including deep compassion and protecting human rights and dignity,” said Colorado Governor Jared Polis.
COVID-19 Vaccination Virtual Town Hall - Thursday, Feb. 4, 6:30 p.m.
On Thursday, Feb. 4, at 6:30 p.m., there will be virtual town hall to discuss the latest COVID-19 vaccination developments. Commissioner Eva J. Henry from Adams County will be joined by leadership from Arapahoe and Douglas Counties and Tri-County Health Department officials will be on hand to take questions and provide updates.
Gov. Polis Orders Flags Lowered to Honor Passing of Westminster Fire Department Captain David Sagel
DENVER - Gov. Jared Polis ordered flags lowered to half-staff on all public buildings statewide tomorrow, January 29, from sunrise to sunset to honor Captain David Sagel of the Westminster Fire Department.
Captain Sagel leaves behind his wife, Pam, and his two sons, Spenser and Austin. At 54 years old, Captain Sagel died from work-related abdominal cancer. Captain Sagel courageously battled his cancer diagnosis for more than a year.
Adams County Community Partner Seeks Signatures for Petition to Create a Group Special License Plate
Foster Source, a community partner of Adams County Human Services, is collecting signatures in favor of a group special license plate to promote foster awareness and to aid in recruitment for foster parents in Colorado.
Adams County Commissioner Charles “Chaz” Tedesco is a strong supporter of this initiative and has worked closely with Foster Source on many projects. This initiative also has the full support of the entire Adams County Board of Commissioners.
Eva J. Henry Elected Chair of Board of County Commissioners for 2021
The Adams County Board of Commissioners today unanimously elected Eva J. Henry as board chair for 2021. Henry was elected to the board in 2012, 2016, and 2020 for her third and final term representing District 1. Henry previously served as board chair in 2013 and 2017.
Adams County, Platte Valley Medical Center Partner for Vaccination Clinic at Government Center in Brighton
Adams County and Platte Valley Medical Center have partnered to open a COVID-19 vaccination clinic at the Adams County Government Center Conference Center, 4430 S. Adams County Pkwy., Brighton.
The clinic is open by appointment only, to those age 70 and over. No walk-ins will be accepted. Pre-registration is required. Information on the registration process is provided below.

County Introduces Small Business Relief Program to Offer More Financial Assistance During COVID-19
During the recent Colorado General Assembly Special Session, Senate Bill 20B-001 was passed establishing a Small Business Relief Program, valued at $37 million. As part of Adams County’s ongoing COVID-19 emergency response and recovery strategy, the county will be applying for, administering, and distributing a portion of these funds to the Adams County business community.
Adams County Elected Officials Sworn in at Inauguration
Adams County marked the commencement of new terms for four elected officials in a on Tuesday, Jan. 12.

DENVER - Gov. Jared Polis ordered flags lowered to half-staff on all public buildings statewide until sunset January 13, 2021, to honor United States Capitol Police Officers.
Adams County will offer free recycling for live Christmas trees after the holiday season. Residents may drop off their Christmas trees Sunday, Dec. 29, through Sunday, Jan. 12, from sunrise to sunset, at Riverdale Regional Park, 9755 Henderson Rd., Brighton. Signs will direct residents to the drop-off site. Please remove all lights, ornaments, and decor. Please note: tree limbs, yard waste, or trees from commercial operations will not be accepted. For additional information, call the Parks Department at 303.637.8000.
