DENVER - Today, Governor Polis ordered flags to be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sundown on the day of the Officer Evan Dunn’s memorial service, who was struck by a suspected impaired driver while responding to a crash on Colorado 58. The date of the service has not yet been set
“I am deeply saddened by the loss of Officer Dunn, and my thoughts go out to his family and friends on the Golden Police Department. We also hope for a speedy recovery for the officer who was injured in this incident. Our law enforcement officers put themselves in harm's way to protect Coloradans day in and day out, and that’s exactly what Officer Dunn and his partner, Officer Bethany Grusing, were doing. We are grateful for their service and commitment to keeping Coloradans safe” said Governor Polis.
Officer Dunn also served as a pilot and company commander in the Colorado National Guard.

Byron Fanning Named Director of the Parks & Open Space Department
Byron Fanning has been named Director of the Adams County Parks & Open Space Department. Fanning will begin on Wednesday, Feb. 20.
“Byron will be picking up the reins and leading the charge of implementing the vision of the county,” said County Manager Raymond Gonzales. “We are excited to have his leadership and experience complement the superb Parks & Open Space staff.”
Adams County Celebrates Affordable Housing Complex Grand Opening
Adams County’s Community and Economic Development Department, along with site developer Delwest, celebrated the grand opening of the Baker School Apartments affordable housing complex with a reception on Thursday, Jan 24. Adams County Commissioners Steve O’Dorisio and Eva J. Henry spoke at the opening along with Delwest’s Joe DelZotto.

Board of County Commissioners Elects Steve O’Dorisio as Chair
The Adams County Board of Commissioners today elected Steve O’Dorisio as board chair for 2019. This is Commissioner O’Dorisio’s second term in the role after previously serving as chair in 2016. He was first elected to represent District 4 as commissioner in 2014 and won re-election in 2018.
Shutdown Affects Food Benefits for 220,000 Colorado Fmilies
DENVER (Jan. 11, 2019 ) – In response to the partial federal government shutdown, the U.S. Department of Agriculture has asked states to issue February’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits early -- by Jan. 20 -- which has the potential to affect 220,000 Colorado families.
Some December Renewal Fees Miscalculated by the Department of Revenue
Adams County recently learned that the Colorado Department of Revenue made an error in calculating renewal fees for drivers whose license plates were due to be renewed in December 2018 and whose vehicles are a model year of 2010, 2015, 2016, 2017, or 2018.
Our partners at the state level are working on a solution to this issue, and we will continue to release that information once it’s available.
At this time, drivers affected do not need to take any action; they will be contacted once the solution is in place.
Elected Officials and Judges Sworn in at Inauguration
Adams County marked the commencement of new terms for seven elected officials and 10 judges in an Inauguration Ceremony on Tuesday, Jan. 8, at Riverdale Regional Park. Residents, employees, and family and friends filled the Waymire Dome to watch the proceedings.
“We’re excited to work with these newly elected officials on the innovative solutions they’ll bring to their respective offices,” said Adams County Manager Raymond H. Gonzales. “Their creative ideas, high standards, and collaboration are what our residents expect and what the challenges we face demand.”
