Tri-County Health Department Issues Public Health Order to Extend Guidance of the State’s COVID-19 Dial

On April 16, 2021, the COVID-19 Dial issued by Governor Polis and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) will expire, and counties across Colorado can issue their own guidance for their citizens. On April 8, 2021, Tri-County Health Department’s Board of Health (BOH) authorized and directed the Executive Director of Tri-County Health Department (TCHD) to issue a Public Health Order for a simplified version of the Dial with the goal to continue to control and/or slow the spread of COVID-19.

As of April 9, 2021, there are 132,885 known positive cases in Adams, Arapahoe, and Douglas Counties, with 1,595 deaths in those counties; and there is evidence of spread of more contagious and potentially more severe variant strains as well. With cases going up and limited COVID-19 vaccine supply, TCHD believes it is necessary to remain cautious for a brief extension of time until vaccines are more widely available.

The TCHD Public Health Order (PHO) will be in effect from April 16 through May 15. Highlights of the Public Health Order include:

  • Phase 1: Moving Toward Full Re-Opening, April 16 - May 15 (30 days): Counties will move to a new level on the Dial, one level less restrictive than the level indicated by their metrics on April 15. For example, a county at Level Yellow metrics on the current state Dial on April 15 will move to Level Blue on April 16 and remain there until May 15. 
  • Phase 2: Observation Period, May 16 - August 16 (90 days): Counties will move to Level Clear, which has no restrictions, subject to TCHD observation of hospital admission rates in the county. In Level Clear, businesses will be able to operate at 100 percent capacity with no Mitigation Requirements, although face-covering requirements may still apply.

To enhance personal safety and help reduce levels of COVID-19 transmission across our communities, residents should continue to  social distance; wear masks in public indoor areas; avoid large gatherings or crowds, especially indoors; stay home while they are sick, and get tested for COVID-19 if they have symptoms; wash their hands often; and get vaccinated as soon as possible.  

Phase 1 will take effect at 12:01 a.m. on April 16, 2021, and expire at 11:59 p.m. on May 15, 2021. The Phase 2 observational period will continue from May 16 through August 15 in order to evaluate the need for any subsequent restrictions. During any time of restricted capacity, counties may continue participating in the 5-Star program. As per TCHD Board of Health Policy, any county within TCHD’s jurisdiction may opt out of this Order by April 16 through resolution of the county’s governing body and as provided in written notification to TCHD at [email protected].

Adams County Announces Concert Lineup for the 120th Anniversary of the Fair

Nate Smith, with special guest Kassi Ashton, will kick off the Adams County Fair with a concert on Wednesday, July 31, at 8 p.m., in the United Power Grandstand. This free concert is sponsored by Your Front Range Toyota Stores.

On Thursday, Aug. 1, ERNEST, with special guest Jon Langston, will perform on the United Power Grandstand at 8 p.m., following Professional Bull Riding (PBR) at 6 p.m. Thursday is also 4-H appreciation night, and $4 from each ticket sold will benefit Adams County 4-H. The evening is sponsored by Brannan Aggregates.

Adams County Partners with History Colorado to Develop Colorado Curated Story: USS Colorado

In 2023, when Adams County unveiled the Adams County Veterans Memorial – a replica of the USS Colorado – at Riverdale Regional Park, Adams County residents with ties to the renowned vessel donated items to honor the lives of veterans. Among the objects received by Adams County were letters, photographs, and artifacts that told the story of life aboard the USS Colorado.

Colorado Air and Space Port Receives State Grant to Rehabilitate Ramp and Taxiway Areas

Colorado Air and Space Port (CASP) is receiving a $500,000 grant from the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) Aeronautics Division to perform pavement rehabilitation work on some of CASP’s most heavily used taxiways and ramp areas. Adams County is providing $55,555 as the local grant match toward the work with a total project cost of $555,555 in a 90/10 partnership.

On Tuesday, March 26, the Adams County Board of Commissioners (BoCC) applauded the grant in Public Hearing.

Governor Polis Orders Flags to Half-Staff in Honor of Eagle County Paramedic Steve Zuckerman

COLORADO - Governor Polis ordered flags to half-staff on Sunday, March 10, 2024, from sunrise to sunset in honor of Steve Zuckerman, an Eagle County paramedic who passed away responding to a backcountry rescue call in Vail on Friday, February 23, 2024. Flags are being lowered in Zuckerman’s honor on the day of his memorial service.

Steve Zuckerman worked as ski patrol for Beaver Creek for over 25 years. He became a part-time paramedic in 2008, before becoming full-time in 2013.

Adams County Health Department (ACHD) Supports Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment’s Recent Action to Protect Clean Air for All

Today, the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment (CDPHE) announced the largest state enforcement package against a single facility for air pollution violations to Suncor refinery in Commerce City. Suncor must pay at least $10.5 million toward penalties and projects due to air pollution violations from July 2019 through June 2021. This action is a step toward holding Suncor more accountable for past violations and requires the refinery to take steps to prevent future violations.
