Suncor to Conduct Fire Extinguisher Training

NOTICE: Suncor will conduct Fire Extinguisher Training on Monday, May 21, at the Suncor Fire Training Center from 1 - 3 p.m. The training will be performed at the Plant 1 Fire Training Grounds. During the training sessions there will likely be flames and smoke produced. In the event of an actual emergency, all training will cease and proper alarms will be sounded.

Debris Drop-Off at Riverdale Regional Park

The Adams County Parks, Open Space & Cultural Arts Department is offering free debris drop-off for Adams County residents who have damaged trees or broken branches starting tomorrow, May 22, through Sunday, May 26, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Riverdale Regional Park, 9755 Henderson Rd., Brighton. Signs will direct residents to the drop-off site. This service is available to residents and may not be used by commercial landscapers or businesses.

 

Electric Bike Raffle

The Adams County Foundation Board is holding an Electric Bike Raffle to raise funds for Homes for Hope! A $25 dollar digital ticket enters you to win a GIANT 19 Quick E+ Electric Bike from Boulder Cycle Sports. The bike is capable of speeds up to 30 MPH and comes with battery and charging equipment. This is a $2,500 value. The drawing will take place on June 21, 5:30 p.m., at the Adams County Goverment Center, 4430 S. Adams County Parkway, Brighton CO 80601. The bike will be awarded at public hearing on June 25, just in time for Bike to Work Day on June 26!

Elections Department Awards Winners in “I Voted” Sticker Design Contest

The Adams County Elections Department received many entries for the “I Voted” sticker design contest. Because of the large number of contenders, the Elections Department decided to award four winners.

“My office was incredibly impressed with the quality of designs Adams County students sent in for the design contest,” says Adams County Clerk & Recorder Josh Zygielbaum. “We’re excited to recognize four of these amazing and talented students and use their designs in the upcoming elections.”

Adams County Commissioners Award $6.6 Million in Open Space Grants

Today, the Adams County Board of Commissioners (BOCC) awarded $6.6 million in open space grants for 20 projects thanks to the voter-approved Open Space Sales Tax. Funding for this grant cycle came from revenues from the second half of the 2018 Adams County Open Space Sales Tax, which was passed by Adams County voters in 1999.

The Open Space Advisory Board reviewed 20 grant applications this grant cycle, recommending the BOCC to approve full funding for all applications. Today, 20 project grants totaling $6,642,082 were awarded.

Neighborhood Cleanup Events Scheduled for 2019

The Adams County Public Works Department will again host a series of neighborhood cleanup events in 2019. Residents are encouraged to bring yard waste and other debris to these locations:

County Names Jennings Golich Director of Community & Economic Development

Adams County Manager Raymond Gonzales has named Jill Jennings Golich as director of the Community & Economic Development Department. Jennings Golich brings experience in both the private and public sectors to the position and most recently worked as the Deputy Executive Director and Interim Executive Director of Community Planning and Development for the City and County of Denver. While working with Denver, Jill consulted and worked directly on high-profile projects like the redevelopment of the Gates Rubber Factory as well as Union Station.
