County Sets Seven Town Hall Meetings for 2017

The Adams County Board of Commissioners has set dates for seven town hall meetings, including two telephone town halls, in 2017. The meetings are open to all county residents.

The first of the meetings will be a telephone town hall on Tuesday, April 11, at 7 p.m. Visit www.adcogov.org/townhall to sign up to receive a call to join the town hall meeting when it begins. During the call, participants can engage commissioners with questions or simply listen to the conversation while taking part in poll questions.

Adams County Director Honored by Society of Women Engineers

Jeff Maxwell, Adams County Transportation director, was honored on a national level by the Society of Women Engineers, receiving their Integrity Award for Male Supporter of the Year. In addition to increasing the number of women engineers being hired, Maxwell appointed the county’s first female engineering manager who oversees a team of women engineers who manage the county’s Transportation Capital Improvement Program.

Adams County Clear Creek Corridor Master Plan Feedback

On January 26, 2017, the first public open house for the Clear Creek Corridor Plan was held at Valley View Elementary School to take feedback from the public. More than 150 recommendations were made at the meeting. Simultaneously, we also asked residents to respond to a survey about their experiences and needs along the Clear Creek Corridor. We received 385 responses to the survey with very helpful feedback. See below for summaries of both the public open house and the survey, which will be used to create a draft plan of improvements throughout the corridor.

Adams County Appoints Members to District Plan Commission

Adams County announced today that the Board of Commissioners has appointed Christy Dowling, Alan Hale, Wayne Walvoord, and Tim Ferrell to the District Plan Commission. One vacancy remains unfilled. This newly created commission will help the City of Brighton and Adams County implement the District Plan, and the first meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 8, 3 p.m. at Brighton City Hall, 500 S. 4th Ave.

Aging Sign Structures Set for Replacement

CDOT and prime contractor, WL Contractors Inc., will replace five overhead sign bridges and cantilever sign structures along I-25, I-70 and I-76 between late February and June. The majority of the work will be performed during the day outside of travel lanes. The project will also require intermittent, overnight lane closures (Sunday through Thursday). Motorists should expect short-term traffic impacts in each of the following three work zones while sign structure work takes place. 

Homelessness Report Presented to Commissioners

The results of research into homelessness in Adams County were presented to the Board of Commissioners during a February 7, 2017 study session at the Government Center in Brighton. 

Members of the University of Denver's School of Social Work and the Burnes Center on Poverty and Homelessness presented the results of their research along with recommendations.

Adams County Hires Oil and Gas Inspector

Adam Kraich has joined the Adams County Community and Economic Development (CED) Department as Oil and Gas Inspector. In this role, Kraich will be responsible for field inspections, complaint response, guidance and outreach, and enforcement of county regulations.

I-76 at US 85 Reconstruction Project

On Wednesday, Feb. 8 starting at 8 p.m., motorists should expect delays overnight on eastbound I-76 while crews shift travel lanes onto new detour pavement. Eastbound I-76 will be reduced to a single lane from 8 p.m. on Wednesday until 5:30 a.m. on Thursday morning.
