The Board of County Commissioners passed Resolution 2024-544 Establishing Holidays for 2025. The county will observe 12 holiday closures and employees will have an additional Floating Holiday. All government offices will be closed on the 12 noted holidays.
I-70 Overnight Closures
Eastbound and westbound I-70 will close at Colorado Blvd. from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.on Monday, Sept. 28, Thursday, Oct. 1, and Friday, Oct. 2. Construction crews will be setting bridge beams on the new northbound Colorado Boulevard bridge. In addition, the Colorado Boulevard on-ramp to westbound I-70 will be closed during that time. All other ramps will be open for local access. See the detour map below and drive safely!
Suncor to Conduct Weekly Live Fire Training Exercises
The Suncor Fire Department will be conducting live fire training exercises weekly beginning Thursday, Sept. 24, through Thursday, Oct. 29 (see planned schedule below). Weather permitting, activities will begin around 8 a.m. and last until approximately 4 p.m. The exercises will produce large flames and thick smoke periodically throughout the day. The Suncor Fire Department uses water to extinguish the flames produced for these trainings, and does not use PFAS-containing foam in any fire training activities at the Commerce City refinery.

County Upgrades E-Permit Center with More User-Friendly Interface
The Adams County Community & Economic Development Department upgraded its E-Permit Center website over the past weekend.
The website now offers a new and more user-friendly interface for applicants, including a wizard to walk applicants through the processes such as applying for the correct type of permit or land use case, scheduling an inspection, or registering contractors for a new account. Applicants who prefer to not use the new wizard may opt out at any time and apply without it.
Hypersonic Drone Startup Inks Rocket Testing Agreement with Colorado Air and Space Port
Colorado Air and Space Port (CASP) is excited to announce its next aerospace partner in New Frontier Aerospace (NFA), a California company with a mission to make rocket-powered transportation usable and practical across several fields, including medical, military, and home delivery. NFA announced its new partnership with CASP in a press release earlier today.
Arapahoe County Commissioners approve new position to support local veterans
One-year pilot program jointly funded with Adams County and City of Aurora
The Arapahoe County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved an agreement that will create a new Veterans Service Officer position to increase service to local veterans within the City of Aurora. Adams and Arapahoe counties will jointly fund the position, with the City of Aurora providing in-kind materials.
Ian Cortez Named Adams County Employee of All Seasons
The Adams County Board of Commissioners announced Ian Cortez as the 2019 Adams County Employee of All Seasons winner.
Expanded Free COVID-19 Rapid Testing Offered for Uninsured
As part of its COVID-19 emergency response and recovery strategy, Adams County has expanded its free COVID-19 testing program to include new locations and rapid testing exclusively for Adams and Jefferson County residents who do not have health insurance or are experiencing homelessness. Family members are also invited to be tested.
Commissioner Eva J. Henry Appointed to Regional Air Quality Council
Adams County Commissioner Eva J. Henry was recently appointed by Governor Jared Polis to the Regional Air Quality Council (RAQC), where she will serve through April 2023.
As part of the RAQC, Henry will act as a local government representative in the Denver metropolitan area, working with various stakeholders across the region to help provide solutions in support of cleaner air.
Adams County Commissioners Award $4.9 Million in Open Space Grants
Funds were awarded for 19 projects across the county
On July 14, 2020, the Adams County Board of Commissioners (BOCC) awarded more than $4.9 million in open space grants for 19 projects thanks to the voter-approved Open Space Sales Tax. Funding for the Fall 2020 grant cycle came from revenues from the second half of the 2019 Adams County Open Space Sales Tax, which was passed by Adams County voters in 1999.
