Ribbon Cutting Celebrating the York St. Phase 1 and Pedestrian Underpass Public Art Installation Project
Today, Adams County celebrated the York St. Phase 1 and Pedestrian Underpass Public Art Installation project with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The York St. Phase 1 Project was a $10.4 million investment that made road and drainage improvements to York St. between E. 78th Ave. and State Highway 224. The project is the first of three the county is implementing to develop this essential corridor for residents of Adams County. In addition, a pedestrian underpass was developed that included a public art mural by local artist Anna Charney.
“York Street Phase 1 is an example of how investing in infrastructure helps improve safety, traffic congestion, and economic opportunity,” said Steve O’Dorisio, Board of County Commissioners Chair. “And by incorporating public art elements into the project, we can enrich the experience and pride of our constituents who use these amenities.”
Anna Charney, a local artist and muralist, completed a dynamic mural installation that brings color and curiosity to the Clear Creek Trail. Her abstract style of billowing shapes mirrors the rushing water, the movement of the wildlife and pedestrians along the trail, and the flowing traffic on the roads above.
The York St. Phase 2 project is currently underway and similar improvements will be completed along the corridor from E. 88th Ave. to E. 78th Ave.
