The Board of County Commissioners passed Resolution 2024-544 Establishing Holidays for 2025. The county will observe 12 holiday closures and employees will have an additional Floating Holiday. All government offices will be closed on the 12 noted holidays.
Adams County Celebrates Groundbreaking of Veterans Memorial at Riverdale Regional Park
As the 20th anniversary of 9/11 approaches, Adams County broke ground to begin construction on a new Veterans Memorial on the shore of Mann-Nyholt Lake at Riverdale Regional Park on Wednesday, Sept 8.
When finished, the memorial will be a life-sized model of the USS Colorado battleship, with the bow jutting into the lake and the current trail passing through the site. To view high-resolution renderings of the planned memorial, visit adcogov.org/veterans-memorial.
Tri-County Health Department Rescinds Option for Counties to Opt Out of Public Health Orders
Yesterday, Tri-County Health Department’s (TCHD) Board of Health voted to rescind their policy on allowing opt outs to countywide public health orders by Board of Commissioners, specifically regarding the recent mask order for children ages 2-11, and put a universal mask order in place for all schools in Adams, Arapahoe, and Douglas counties regardless of vaccination status. The new order goes into effect on Wednesday, Sept. 1, through Friday, Dec. 31, unless amended, extended, or rescinded.
Gov. Polis Orders Flags Lowered to Honor Colorado Governor Lamm
Governor Jared Polis ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff on all public buildings from sunrise until sunset on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, to honor the passing of former Colorado Governor Richard Lamm. A memorial service is scheduled for Governor Lamm on August 31, 2021.

DENVER - Governor Jared Polis today ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff on all public buildings beginning immediately until sunset on August 30, 2021 in honor of the U.S. service members and victims killed in the attack in Kabul, Afghanistan.
Board of Commissioners Vote to Opt Out of Tri-County Health Department’s Mask Order for Children Ages 2-11
The Board of Commissioners voted 3-2 at public hearing today to opt out of Tri-County Health Department’s mask order for children ages 2-11. The commissioners’ action today allows each school district to follow or amend existing protocols. The opt out allows for each district to implement their individual approach.
Adams County Commissioners Demand Reinstatement of Bus Route 520 Stop at the Adams County Justice Center
The Adams County Commissioners, along with other county officials, are demanding the Regional Transportation District (RTD) fully reinstate bus route 520, which serves the Adams County Justice Center, Adams County Government Center, Platte Valley Medical Center, and many other destinations and connections in the Brighton area.
Board of Commissioners Vote to Amend Local Oil and Gas Regulations
The Board of Commissioners voted 3-1 at public hearing today to adopt proposed regulation amendments for oil and gas facility development in unincorporated Adams County. The revised regulations update oil and gas facility permitting process requirements, as well as incorporate additional performance standards to ensure the protection of public health, safety, welfare, and the environment.
Adams County Commissioners Award More Than $9.5 Million in Open Space Grants
Today, the Adams County Board of Commissioners (BOCC) awarded more than $9.5 million in open space grants for 20 projects thanks to the voter-approved Open Space Sales Tax. Funding for the Spring 2021 grant cycle came from revenues from the second half of the 2020 Adams County Open Space Sales Tax, which was passed by Adams County voters in 1999, and in perpetuity in 2020.

Día de La Familia at the Adams County Fair
Equestrian singer Ezequiel Peña will headline this year’s Charreada at the Adams County Fair’s Día de La Familia at 3 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 8. This year’s event is presented by Amazon.
The annual Charreada will be traditional, with acts performed by Rancho 3 M’s charro team, live music performed by Mariachi Sol De Mi Tierra and Banda Los Bucaneros, and a performance by the folkoric dance team “Artistico,” showcasing the best of Mexican culture with music and dance.
